Why Video is Still The King of Content
Recently, Facebook’s head of Instagram said the service plans to start showing users full-screen, recommended videos in their feeds. “We’re no longer a photo-sharing app or a square photo-sharing app,” said Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, in a video he posted on Twitter. Mosseri specifically highlighted TikTok as well as YouTube as serious competitors and reasons for these changes.
Social media is continually changing the way we communicate and consume information. As platforms such as Facebook and Instagram change their content presentation, there has to be a shift in what type of content is shared. The secret ingredient behind a successful digital marketing campaign is sharing compelling content in the form of a targeted message and an engaging design. According to The Cisco Annual Internet Report, online videos will account for more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic by 2022. Here are four reasons video is still the king of social media content:
1. Grabs Attention. Video is a great tool to hook your audience. We are all guilty of passively scrolling until we see compelling content that grabs our attention. Social media success lies in your ability to condense information down into easily digestible, interesting snippets of content that maintain attention.
2. Drives Conversations. Your call to action on social media is like a virtual handshake with your viewers. If they've watched a video, they have demonstrated interest. You can then direct them to take the desired action such as commenting to drive more engagement or driving traffic to your site for more information.
3. Increases Brand Exposure. Incorporating video in your social media strategy serves to expand your brand’s reach, and thus, your audience’s awareness of it. Logos serve as a connection point between the company and its consumers, and their use in videos is no exception.
4. Personifies Your Business. Videos let your audience see the people and the story behind the business. People do business with people, and videos that reveal the people behind your business can help create familiarity and with your brand, as well as brand loyalty
